Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) (Also called “Regular HEAP”)

HEAP is a federally funded program designed to help income-eligible Ohioans with their winter heating bills. The program runs from July 1 to March 31.

Income guidelines for HEAP

To be income-eligible, a household must have total household income for the last 12 months or 30 days equal to or less than 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines (FPG). Income guidelines representing the 175 percent calculation are revised annually. The period to be used in determining annual income must not be more than 12 months or less than the 30-day period preceding the request for assistance by the household. The following chart displays income levels by household size and should be used to determine eligibility. Income guidelines listed below represent the 175 percent calculation for 2018-2019
energy assistance programs.
